You may have read about this trick whilst reading about the Lucky Egg in our Items section.
But for those who don’t know let us tell you how to get over 1000 XP a minute in Pokemon Go! That’s 30,000 XP in 30 minutes!
Remember the phrase “Gotta catch ‘em all”? Well, that’s exactly what you need to do for this massive XP boost.
You may be sick of seeing common Pokemon, but make sure to capture every Pidgey, Weedle, and Caterpie that you see. The reason for this is that these 3 Pokemon are not only easy to find and capture, but they only require 12 Candy each to evolve. Why is evolution important?
It is our key to our key to gaining such a large amount of XP. Normally you would gain 500 XP per evolution but with this trick, you will be receiving more than 1000 XP per minute!
Once you have captured a lot of Weedle, Caterpie and Pidgey you are ready to begin. You should aim to have enough Candy to do at least 15 evolutions total. This will get you at the very least 15,000 XP. The more candy you have the more XP you will get!
You will need to transfer Pokemon to Professor Willow and ensure you still have enough to actually evolve. If you are struggling to work the numbers out you can try using this awesome evolution calculator created by Zach Cowell . Just put in the numbers of each Pokemon and Candy that you have, and you will be able to see the amount of XP you will get, how many transfers you need to make, and how long you will be evolving for!
(If you really want to maximise your XP head over to a Pokestop with a lure on it before you begin – we will explain why further down the article)
Now you need to activate a Lucky Egg, You will receive your first one of these as a reward for reaching level 9. This will double the amount of XP you receive for the next 30 minutes.
Evolve as many Pidgey, Weedle and Caterpie as you can. This will award you 1000 XP per evolution
Next, evolve any other Pokemon you have enough candy for. As an added bonus if you have not yet caught the Pokemon that the evolution turns into you will get an extra 1000 XP all the time your lucky egg is still active. That’s 2000 XP per Pokemon you evolve that you are yet to catch!
Once you are no longer able to evolve anything else you should use the remaining minutes left on the egg timer to capturing Pokemon in the area.
Remember we said at the start to head to a Pokestop with a lure module active? The reason for this is to draw Pokemon to you whilst you’re Lucky Egg timer is active.
Each Pokemon you catch you award you 200 XP until the lucky egg runs out. Throw bonus XP is also doubled, so you have a chance to gain up to 400 XP per Pokemon caught.
Here is a summary of the XP you will obtain for every scenario
