Bug affecting capture rate confirmed by Niantic

Many trainers have been complaining since the update that catching Pokemon seems to be much harder. We have used endless supplies of Pokeballs in an attempt to catch low-level common Pokemon only to see them constantly break free and then run away!

The good news is it’s not just your imagination and your not the only one that is throwing 10+ Pokeballs at low-level Pidgey’s only to have them then run away!

Many fans believed that the difficulty was increased to capture Pokemon on purpose in order to boost profits made from in-game Pokeball purchases. However, Niantic has admitted that a bug has been found that arrived in the latest update.

“Trainers, a new bug affecting throw accuracy increases the odds of escape and omits the XP bonus. We are working on a fix, stay tuned…”

So the developer is intending to fix this, although it wasn’t made clear when this fix will go live.

This will hopefully reduce some frustration after the recent issues affecting the game, including removing the broken tracking feature and shutting down popular third-party tracking sites such as PokeVision.

We will keep you updated as soon as we find out when the fix will be released. Until then be sure stock up on Pokeballs before heading out to areas with minimal Pokestops!
